Raymond James Mason is a trombonist who freelances in the New York City Area.  Born and raised on Long Island, Raymond took to the trombone from a young age and soon moved to NYC to study both classical performance and jazz studies at NYU.  After studying with luminaries such as Brian Lynch, Lenny Pickett, Alan Ferber, and Elliot Mason, Raymond found himself in demand as an artist in a myriad of genres.

Raymond plays trombone with Antibalas, a Brooklyn-based afrobeat group on Daptone Records who has been bringing their music inspired by Fela Kuti and Eddie Palmieri across the globe for 18 years.  He has also become the In-House Trombonist for Daptone Records and Dunham Records, lending his talents to recordings for Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Charles Bradley, Menahan Street Band, Lee Fields & The Expressions, and many more.

Raymond also played trombone with pop icon Taylor Swift in support of her single "Shake it Off" and new album "1989". He also played trombone on the 2016 GRAMMY Award winning Record of the Year, "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars.

Raymond is currently in the house band for the new NBC Show "Maya & Marty", a Lorne Michaels produced weekly Musical Variety Show featuring Maya Rudolph and Martin Short.

Raymond also plays trombone/keys in the touring band of Mark Ronson in support of his latest album, "Uptown Special" and trombone with Warner Bros. artist Lukas Graham, who's single "7 Years" went Triple Platinum in 2016.

Lastly, Raymond contributed horns on the soundtrack for the brand new, critically acclaimed Baz Luhrmann NetFlix show, "The Get Down".

At only age 26, Raymond has already performed or recorded with some of the biggest names in the music industry.  In addition to the aforementioned artists, he's also lent his talents to:
